Clarifications of certain expressions

Shri. Mohan P asked the following in his fb post of 17-07-2015. My responses are given alongside.

Do we use the following expressions of SM in TM also ?

My responses

adverb
फक्त

शिवाय

खेरीज

परी

केवळ

conjunction
परंतु

पण (n)

फक्त in SM means "only", "solely" "merely". In TM we say मात्र.

शिवाय in SM means "besides" , "without or except". In TM for we say विना.

खेरीज in SM is the same as शिवाय. It also means "in addition to". In TM we say "हेज विना"

परी in SM means "similarly", "in a manner of". For this in TM we say "तजस्क॑", "त्यास्क॑", "तज सार्ख", परी in SM also means "but", for which we say पण.

केवळ or केवल in SM means "pure, mere, simple, unmingled, uncompounded" etc. In TM we say सरळ.

परंतु in SM means "but, yet, nevertheless, notwithstanding". In TM we say पण.

In both SM and TM पण is used as an affix attached to adjectives and to nouns to form abstract nouns; corresponding with (good)ness, (child)hood etc. For example. चोक्कोटपण, ल्हानपण etc.
